AV Engineer, Early Career with AV Installation Experience + IT Experience, London E1 Based, Available from 24th September 2012, Permanent

This candidate got in touch with me last week. He is in the early stages of his AV career. He has worked hard to break into audio visual systems integration following early experience in mainstream commercial IT installation/support roles.

This candidate has a genuine passion for AV and has been unlucky in that his current employer is restructuring just after he has joined them. I feel that he will quickly grow to be an invaluable technical team member for the right integrator or service provider.

An AV Engineer with experience working for a large AV integrator on a contract basis (initially 3 months extended to 6 months) where he was performing 1st and 2nd fix installations into corporate sites in London’s financial centre. Following completion of the contract, he accepted a permanent position with another AV & VC integrator in June 2012; unfortunately the company are now restructuring and this candidate has been let go on a last-in first-out basis and will be available to start a new role from Monday 24th September, or at one week’s notice. He previously worked in IT engineering.

This candidate has experience of installing a variety of AV technologies and infrastructure including video conferencing systems (Cisco/Tandberg & Polycom), Crestron & AMX control systems (installation but not programming), ceiling and wall mounts, various types of cabling including terminations, amplifiers, switches and displays. He also has some experience rack building, commissioning and trouble-shooting the installed system.

This candidate is actively looking for a permanent opportunity where he can build on his existing AV experience and build a long term career with a stable employer. He lives in London (E1) and is happy to travel as required. His salary was £23K + fuel expenses, but he is flexible on this for the right opportunity. He is available for interview immediately.

If you can offer this candidate an opportunity or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact me: david@avjobs.co.uk

Business Development Manager, Strong Custom Install Background, Excellent Sales Track Record, Permanent, 4 Weeks’ Notice

This candidate recently approached us, looking for the next step forward in his career. He has a genuine passion for AV and home automation technology as well as lots of ambition and professionalism.

This candidate is an experienced sales professional currently working for a Hi-Fi and Custom Install specialist based in London. He began working for them part time during his university studies and then moved to full time employment with them following graduation. He has a deep interest in technology, particularly home automation, high-end hi-fi and home cinema. He also has an excellent sales track record, being the first member of staff in the company’s history to achieve £1million turnover in a year. His customers include high net worth individuals, interior designers and property developers. As well as sales, he gets involved in marketing, including online, radio and print, monitoring the effectiveness of campaigns and working with the MD to ensure campaigns achieve the company objectives.

Now actively looking for a new opportunity with a company that can offer career progression in the long term; he has no further to progress with his current employer. Based in London, available at 4 weeks’ notice and is currently earning a basic salary of £24K.

Home Automation Technology Business Manager/Director, Outstanding Track Record Delivering Growth, Strong Technical & Service Delivery Background, South UK Based, Immediately Available

This candidate has approached us here at AV Jobs very recently; he is an outstanding professional and I was personally impressed by the rapid career progression and major successes demonstrated on his CV.

This candidate’s career so far has been focused on technology for the home; after leaving school with good GCSEs he went straight into work with a retail business selling consumer electronics to the general public; he soon sent on to lead their Custom Install business achieving £200K+ sales per annum (in 1999 -2002!).

After his initial success in retail and then Custom Install, this candidate then joined a major Audio Visual technologies manufacturer. Again, his story here is one of unbroken success, starting in a business to business field sales role, he exceeded all targets given to him and achieving 100% growth for his area over his three years in the role.

He then progressed into the role of Category Manager, responsible for budget of £10Million, Profit & Loss and managing a field sales team, pre- & post sales teams and the stock budget and profile. Again, he delivered growth in line with the Board of Directors aspirations.

Following this he took on the role of Custom Installation Manger, with responsibility for P&L, the field sales team, pre- and post-sales teams, marketing budget and the product portfolio aimed at the UK Custom Install market. Further successes here saw him promoted twice, first to National Sales Manager, and then onto the Board of Directors as Channel Director.

After a very successful 10 years with the same employer, this candidate left following the company restructuring and contracting as they left or reduced their exposure to some sectors.

This candidate is now actively looking for his next challenge where he can make use of his skills in management (sales, personnel/team management, category/product management and service delivery), his commercial acumen (spotting opportunities in niche markets with new technologies), his own strong sales skills and his extensive knowledge of Home Automation and Custom Install technologies and their application. He has extensive knowledge of this market place and good contacts he can work with in the future.

Based in the South of England, this candidate is flexible on the location of his role; he is open to possibilities in either manufacturing, distribution or reseller environments. His previous OTC was c £100k, car and benefits. His main priority is to find a role that excites him and allows him to work to his full potential and prove his worth to a new employer.

Video Conferencing Business Development Manager, North London Based, City Clients, Strong VC Sales Background, Immediately Available, Permanent

This candidate is a new contact for AV Jobs, and upon speaking to him at length about his previous experience and his career aspirations, I was struck by his friendly, determined and outgoing personality, as well as his extensive knowledge of Video Conferencing technology and the UK VC market.

This candidate is an experienced Video Conferencing and Technology Solution sales person. He has a strong background in consultative sales, both through the channel (working with resellers to sell to corporate end users), with Vendor and Distributor, and with reseller-integrators direct to end users. This candidate has had consistent success selling video conferencing technologies (including Cisco/Tandberg, Radvision, Lifesize, Polycom), IP networking solutions, Professional AV solutions and digital signage. His main customers are City based corporate clients that he has enjoyed working with at senior executive level.

This candidate left his last role in March 2012; he was one of only two staff in the London office. Since joining he built his client base from scratch, succeeding in billing £500K in his 11 months there. He left as the London office looked likely to close, and he was offered to stay on at a reduced salary. Understandably he decided to leave and take the opportunity to travel internationally for two months. He has now returned to London and is actively looking for a permanent opportunity where he can make use of his sales skills, client contacts (he still has good client contacts in the City) and knowledge of Video Conferencing and technology solutions for business.

Based in North London and looking for a salary of around £35K+ but is flexible depending on the package and OTE achievable (his previous package was £37K with a £70K OTE and package). He is immediately available for an interview/start.

If you can offer this candidate an opportunity or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact me: david@avjobs.co.uk

Custom Install Sales Professional, Strong Business Development & Relationship Building Skills, Bristol Based, Immediately Available

This candidate contacted me recently following his relocation from the London area to Bristol, South West England. He is a very positive, professional person with excellent communication skills and a real passion for AV technologies aimed at the domestic market.

With a strong background in selling Custom Install solutions to architects, builders, developers and interior designers, this candidate is keen to find a new permanent opportunity. He wants to make use of his extensive knowledge of consumer electronics/custom install technologies in a business development/sales role. He has successfully built relationships with decision makers for his previous employer in the South East of England, with a good track record in winning new business and hitting sales targets. He is not afraid of cold calling over the telephone, or visiting potential client sites and introducing himself.

This candidate has sold and overseen the installation of a wide range of home automation and related technologies, form the initial wiring/infrastructure, through to completed home systems and home cinema, incorporating multi-room AV, high-end projectors, audio systems, HiFi, lighting and associated control systems, including iLight, Lutron, iMerge and Control4. His early career shows a solid progression from working in retail sales of consumer electronics and HiFi into the Custom Install industry.

Until recently he was working on an ad hoc basis for a custom installer assisting with installations. He is currently undertaking some part time training work, teaching retail staff how to sell higher-end consumer electronics. He is keen to get back into a full time sales focused role and is available immediately.

I can envision this candidate being an asset to a company with or without a base in the South West/Bristol area that wants to win more business in the Custom Install market there. This candidate is proven working independently and would thrive in a field based sales role, with the backing of a remote technical team.

Flexible on salary (he will consider roles form £20K+) as he knows that he must prove his worth to a new employer, this candidate would relish the opportunity to show this.
